Virtual Graduation Ceremonies held for Riverside Alternative High School Students
Bridge City, LouisianaBridge City, Louisiana – Riverside Alternative High School graduates took the lead in opting to celebrate spring 2022 Commencement via Zoom. Fully gowned in royal blue, each graduate anxiously anticipated turning their gold tassel—while former First Lady Michelle Obama gave a virtual key address.
Although socially distanced, the virtual room filled with warmth and cheer from parents, family, faculty, and staff as all five graduates delivered their final speeches after receiving their high school diplomas.
“I’m proud of them,” said Director of Bridge City Center for Youth, Roosevelt Johnson. “The many obstacles they have overcome while navigating through computer based coursework during a global pandemic is commendable.”
Graduates stated during their speeches, they anticipate continuing their education by attending a local HBCU.
