NEWS Strong 2025 School Performance Scores for The Office of Juvenile Justice Alternative School District

BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) released School and District Performance Scores for the 2024-2025 school year today, marking the second consecutive year of improvement for the Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) alternative school district.

Notably, the Bridge City Center for Youth (BCCY) Riverside Alternative High School achieved a consecutive "A" rating with a score of 116.1, demonstrating exceptional academic progress.

The 2025 scores reflect a more rigorous grading scale implemented by the state, with letter grade cutoffs increasing by 10 points for "A," "B," and "C" designations. Despite these elevated standards, OJJ facilities demonstrated adaptability and commitment to our youth education.

"Congratulations to all of you for your work, your growth, and your commitment to our students. Thank you for everything you do," said Dr. Shenell Deville, Statewide Director of Education at the Office of Juvenile Justice.

Other OJJ secure care facilities also received commendable scores:

The St. Martinville facility did not receive an SPS score this year, as it did not meet the minimum testing cohort requirement of 15 students.

"We will continue to build on this momentum, striving for even greater educational outcomes across all our facilities, said Deville."

The OJJ remains dedicated to fostering an environment where youth can excel academically, develop valuable skills, and prepare for successful reintegration into their communities.
