Today, the Juvenile Justice Reform Act Implementation Commission (JJRAIC) held its grantee kickoff meeting cohosted by Office of Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) Administrator Liz Ryan, Southern University Law Center (SULC) Chancellor John Pierre, and State Senator Royce Duplessis.
During the kickoff meeting, OJJDP Administrator Liz Ryan announced a strategic investment of $250,000 granted to the Southern University Law Center to assist JJRAIC in its mission of impacting the broader juvenile justice reform efforts in Louisiana.
Topics of discussion included:
- OJJDP’s commitment to support the achievement of the mission of the Louisiana Juvenile Justice Reform Act Implementation Commission
- Recognition of the 20th Anniversary of Act 1225 and Louisiana’s reform achievements
- Employment of key fiscal and technical assistance resources from OJJDP
- Acceptance of the grant by Southern University Law Center’s leadership, as well as a discussion of their involvement in this effort
