In 2003, the Louisiana Legislature passed Act 1225, which laid the foundation for juvenile justice reform in Louisiana. In 2004 the reform efforts included the separation of juvenile justice from adult corrections and probation and parole stressing the importance of rehabilitation and the differences in serving young people and adults.
