The CQIS Department regularly seeks grant funding for enhanced programming, equipment, and consulting services. We send proposals for supplementary monies to the federal government, private foundations, and Louisiana state government. These applications generally explain the need for such funding and set forth plans for the use of it upon receipt of the awards. Our robust grants program is also responsible for managing funded programs and making sure that they are compliant with state and federal standards.
By combining grant finances with the careful controls and evaluative components of the CQIS Department, the Office of Juvenile Justice is able to ensure that youths in custody are provided with quality treatment and equipment to ensure the best possible outcomes. We currently use grant funding to support vocational classes and re-entry case management for youths who will soon leave our custody. We also use grants to support sex offender, sexual safety, and substance abuse programs. Finally, we use grant monies to help us upgrade computers and school equipment, and to provide valuable data analysis and outside evaluation services.
