Intensive residential (secure) care for girls is currently provided at the Ware Youth Center in Coushatta, Red River Parish.  All female youth in secure care are housed at this facility.

Ware Youth Center’s female facility is a state-of-the-art complex built in 2009 to accommodate the needs of this population.  The site consists of three separate cottages housing a total of 24 girls.  The complex includes separate recreational, educational and dietary facilities designed to meet the individual needs of the residents.

Ware Youth Center has fully implemented the Missouri model of treatment, a national evidence-supported intervention with proven outcomes for supporting delinquent youth and juvenile offenders.
Youth at the Ware Youth Center are afforded the opportunity to participate in religious services as well as competitive and non-competitive activities.

  • Individual counseling to help youth with identified treatment needs, help build self-esteem and confidence, and promote a healthier way to deal with challenges
  • Group counseling to help youth learn to solve problems, manage anger and practice communication and social skills
